George is one of the Commonwealth's most senior and experienced legal advisers and occupies the position of Deputy Chief General Counsel with AGS's Office of General Counsel, concentrating on major constitutional and complex statutory interpretation advice. He advises on major constitutional and complex statutory interpretation advice. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the areas of constitutional law, statutory interpretation (especially in relation to government and statutory authority finances), public finances, taxation, corporations and trusts.
'This appointment is appropriate recognition of Mr Witynski's outstanding expertise and abilities in the field of Commonwealth law,' Mr McClelland said. George's appointment as Commonwealth Senior Counsel recognises the high level expertise that George continues to contribute to the Commonwealth. He will be able to provide counsel to the people across government who need access to constitutional law expertise and also to the new generation of lawyers who will need to advise the Commonwealth.
George has established a position as one of the most eminent Commonwealth legal advisers of his generation. His expertise in the fields of constitutional and public law have been relied upon by successive governments at the highest levels, particularly in relation to public finance and taxation.
