Government Law Group
AGS Government Law Group seminars, FOI and Privacy Practitioners Forums and HR Practitioners Forums are for Australian Government employees only.
These brief sessions, usually at the end of the work-day, give you an opportunity to learn more about current and emerging government legal issues. Seminar information is often published later in Legal briefings.
Seminars occur every couple of months in various capital cities.
Issues covered in recent Government Law Groups have included the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, cloud computing, parliamentary privilege, water rights, public interest immunity, the relationship between State and Commonwealth laws, managing risk and liability, anti-terrorism legislation, tips for tendering, remaking decisions, legal professional privilege, delegations and authorisations, and the implications of recent High Court decisions.
HR Practitioners Forums have recently covered employment issues including managing non-performance of duties, work health and safety laws, staff behaviour at social events and adverse action.
