Course outline
This course will equip your agency’s authorised officers to perform their functions under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (PID Act). We cover:
- an introduction to the PID Act
- deciding whether or not a disclosure is a public interest disclosure and whether or not to allocate it for investigation
- other functions of authorised officers such as giving information to disclosers and protecting public officials from reprisal
- interaction with, and obligations under, the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2022
- protections and secrecy under the PID Act.
The course is suitable for new authorised officers, or as a refresher for existing authorised officers, particularly as to the 2023 amendments to the PID Act. The course is also suitable for corporate areas which provide support to authorised officers in performing their functions.
