Cameron has over 20 years’ experience as a litigator and legal advisor specialising in administrative law, civil claims and criminal law. He acts for a wide range of government departments and agencies, and appears regularly in various Commonwealth and State courts and tribunals.
He regularly acts on behalf of Commonwealth law enforcement agencies in relation to information protection issues arising at various stages of the criminal justice process. He has also assisted a number of Commonwealth agencies with inquests and inquiries. He has prosecuted numerous offences under the Customs Act 1901 and offences occurring in Commonwealth Places and has provided advice on the possible commencement of civil penalty matters. He has sought freezing orders in the Federal Court, provided advice on statutory reform and has acted in contempt proceedings, extradition proceedings and Hague Convention child abduction proceedings. He has also assisted a number of clients on several outposts.
Recent experience
Cameron’s recent experience includes:
- appearing in contempt proceedings for an examiner of the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission
- prosecuting offences relating to the importation of import-sanctioned goods (Russian military aircraft parts) without necessary permissions contrary to the Customs Act 1901 (Cth).
