Royal Commission thank you
When the public hearings of the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry came to an end on Friday 30 November 2018, after 10 months and 7 rounds of hearings, 69 days of public hearings and evidence from 134 witnesses, 10,140 submissions, about 400 witness statements and more than 6,500 exhibits, Commissioner Kenneth Hayne praised the Commission's staff – including the core team of 20 AGS staff.
Work continues, of course, as the Commissioner will hand down his final report in February 2019.
Commissioner Kenneth Hayne said on Friday 30 November 2018, 'I, of course, have a further and more formal opportunity in my final report to acknowledge and thank those who have worked so hard to bring us to this point in the work of the Commission. … I am also especially grateful for the work that has been done by the Australian Government Solicitor's team led so admirably as it has been by Mr Simon Daley and Mr Simon Sherwood. None of what has happened, whether in the hearing room or in the work of the Commission outside hearings, could have occurred without the immense amount of work that AGS has done and done so skilfully.'
