Course outline
This course will equip your agency’s principal officer delegates to perform their functions under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (PID Act) if your agency engages external investigators to conduct PID investigations. We will cover:
- introduction to the PID Act and to PIDs
- deciding whether or not to conduct a PID investigation
- how to ensure external PID investigations satisfy applicable legal requirements
- mandatory referrals to the National Anti-Corruption Commission and police
- interaction with the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2022
- protections and secrecy under the PID Act.
This course is not suitable for agencies that conduct PID investigations in-house – please see our full-day PID Act for Investigators course. This course also does not cover the functions of authorised officers including deciding whether or not to allocate a PID – please see our PID Act for Authorised Officers course.
