Dispute Resolution and Office of General Counsel promotions

20 September 2024

Please join us in celebrating AGS's most recent senior appointments.

Congratulations to Liam Boyle, Dylan Bushnell, Jenny Davenport, Phillip McAloon, Marlowe Thompson, Ali Schaefer, Erin Shriner and Brendan Watts on their promotions to Senior General Counsel/Senior Executive Lawyer (SES Band 1, equivalent to Partner). We are also very pleased to welcome back to AGS and celebrate the appointment of Danielle Gatehouse to Senior Executive Lawyer.

Liam, Dylan, Phil, Marlowe, Ali and Brendan’s appointments as Senior General Counsel/Senior Executive Lawyer within AGS’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) recognises their deep knowledge and experience of Commonwealth legal practice areas. This includes combined expertise in statutory interpretation, constitutional law, regulatory law, law enforcement, financial management and accountability, environmental law and legislative drafting.

We also congratulate Jenny and Erin on their appointments as Senior Executive Lawyers in AGS’s Dispute Resolution (DR) practice. Known for their technical expertise, leadership, and strong client skills, both are experienced practitioners in their respective fields. Jenny specialises in entitlements, employment and discrimination law. Erin is a key member of the Civil Claims team and has played a pivotal role in leading some of AGS’s largest civil litigation matters.

Danielle will return to AGS as a Senior Executive Lawyer in OGC in early October. Danielle brings extensive experience to her new role having recently served as Deputy Registrar and Executive Director (Legal) for the ACT Supreme Court. Previously, she spent 16 years in OGC’s Constitutional Litigation Unit and AGS’s DR practice, developing a strong track record in complex, high-profile Commonwealth litigation.

These appointments reflect each person’s exceptional professional reputation and the significant contributions they have made, and will continue to make, to Commonwealth legal practice. They will play an important role working with clients on complex and novel legal issues. As leaders, they will support the development of colleagues as exceptional public lawyers.

Congratulations again to you all.
